Land's End to John o' Groats

Story

Commencing in August my Dad and I are cycling from Land's End, the bottom of England, to the top of Scotland, John o' Groats. Over the course of 21 days we will ride a total of  1700kms, being on average 80kms a day and will see us cover the entire length of the UK. During the trip we'll be confronted with man eating bees, thirsty iguanas, weather conditions not seen since Hurricane Bob and terrain that keeps even mountain goats up at night.

I have set a target of achieving $2,000 for the charity Autism Spectrum. Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) is a not for profit provider of services and assistance to people with autism and their families. Autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) are lifelong developmental disabilities characterised by marked difficulties in social interaction, impaired communication, restricted and repetitive interests and behaviours and sensory sensitivities.

All donations, large or small, for this very worthwhile cause would be greatly appreciated. For those of you who have donated, please send me your email address so I can send you regular updates and a few photos once the ride has commenced.

Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect)

Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) is Australia’s largest national service provider for people on the autism spectrum.

Autism is different for everyone. Providing the right support requires understanding individual strengths, interests and aspirations. There is no one-size-fits-all solution. At Aspect, we work in partnership with people of all ages on the autism spectrum, providing a tailored support journey that continually adapts to the needs of each person. Our approach means each person is understood and valued for their unique abilities, supported through their challenges and given opportunities to achieve their goals and fulfil their potential.

How your support helps

We need people like you to help us pave the way to a better future.

Autism is a lifelong condition. An estimated 1 in every 70 people in Australia is on the autism spectrum. Along with their family members, this means autism is a part of daily life for over a million Australians. It is likely you know someone – a family member, friend or colleague.

By fundraising for us, you will help provide the best opportunities for people of all ages on the autism spectrum from tailored educational support to fulfilling work lives and improved social environments.
